For Immediate Release: (West Hollywood, CA) September 16, 2022 – The Weho PAC announced its endorsements for West Hollywood City Council today. After much deliberation, based on private one-on–one interviews with all twelve candidates, as well as a public candidate forum, hosted by the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and nine neighborhood associations, the PAC Trustees have reached a decision to endorse five candidates all who share a vision for West Hollywood which aligns with the business community.

In response to concerns from the community about crime, mental health, addiction, income inequality, housing insecurity, and more, in November 2021 the City Council directed City staff to develop a Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Strategic Plan. The city will engage the community in the development of the new plan and will begin seeking feedback in September 2022 from residents, businesses, community organizations, neighboring government partners, first responders, social services providers, and other key civic groups.
At last count 12 intrepid applicants had registered their intentions to mount a campaign for a seat on our City Council.
Historically, an average lot for the job. And so, the season of rhetoric and sometimes flamboyant ideas and promises is in full swing. Two major, well-known candidates, Lauren Meister and Steve Martin have already had their kickoff events.
Last night’s WeHo for the People Candidate Forum produced few fireworks, but it did ignite a campaign season that’s been on simmer all summer long. And the candidates left no doubt that they were ready for primetime.

Over the past month, there have been two competing headlines about West Hollywood’s fight with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.
They say crime is out of control, residents are cowering in their homes, and the blasé West Hollywood City Council just made the place more dangerous by voting to defund the Sheriff’s Department.
